This choreographic project by Isin Önol aims at opening up a space for a transdisciplinary encounter where the dance performers contribute into the music with their body movements while the musician contributes to the choreography with his performative stance within the area of the spectacle where the movement and the sound are in constant transformation. It proposes to research the possibilities to transfer the movements that are based on turning, whirling, spinning, into other sources of energy, mainly to generate electricity and light. It suggests various occupation methods with certain technological devices to transfer movement into music and music into movement.
Isin Önol (1977, Turkey) is a curator based in Vienna. She is a PhD Candidate at Cultural and Intellectual History, University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria. She has completed her Master of Advance Studies on Curating at ZHdK, Zürcher Hochschule der Kunst, Zürich, Switzerland (2009-2011). She participated to Ecole du Magasin, International Curatorial Training Programme, Centre National d’Art Contemporain, Grenoble, France (2009-10) and Gwangju Design Biennale International Curator Course, Gwangju, South Korea (2009). She received her MFA on Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design from Sabanci University (2003), and her BA on Art Education from Marmara University (2000), Istanbul, Turkey.
PERFORMER & CHOREOGRAPHER
Born in 1969 in Antakya, Turkey. Since 1994 based in Vienna, Austria. In 1999 he was awarded a scholarship by Summer Dance Week Vienna (Dance Web), including an honourable mention by the Ballett International Magazine as “The Most Outstanding Dancer of the Year in Austria” with his full-program performance Unterwegs Tabula Rasa. Between 2000 and 2002 he had engagements with Vienna Volksoper, Austria; Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Germany; and the Grand Théatre de Genéve, Switzerland. In 2004 he worked with Jan Fabre – Trobleyn. Between 2005 and 2007 he participated in Compagnie Thor`s piece d’Orient. He has worked with many artists including Cem Ertekin, Aydin Teker, Sebastian Prantl, Philippe Arlaud, Anne-Marie Gros, Ismael Ivo, Marcia Haydee, Yoshi Oida and Thierry Smits. The festivals at which he has performed include Liteside, Amsterdam; Danse en Ville, Brussels-Luxembourg; KIT, Copenhagen;Polyzentral, Hamburg; I-DANS Solists, Istanbul; Les Eclats Choreographiques, Niort; Dance Biennale,
Claudio touches to different styles of music from classical to contemporary as well as musical-theater, improvisation and electronic music. He worked with “Centre Tempo Reale” founded by Luciano Berio, l’Orchestre National de Lyon, l’Opéra National de Lyon, Musicatreize, l’Ensemble Odyssée, and he participated to the UBS young world orchestra of Verbier (Suisse) for three years. He is the soloist of the contemporary music ensemble “Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain” with which he produced various records consisting several pieces by contemporary composers. He’s a member of Mezwej ensemble directed by Zad Moultaka, and he co-founded the Trio De Bubar who created pieces of Gérard Pésson, Sthéphane Borrel and Vincent Carinola.
